My interest in teaching began whilst I was a sixth form student at school, I volunteered to teach science in a local primary school and found the experience inspiring and rewarding in equal measure. After gaining my first degree, I spent time working on a Kibbutz teaching English to a group of children and young people from many different nationalities and cultures. This gave me the confidence to apply to teacher training and qualify as a Key Stage 1 teacher. I have since taught every year group from Reception to Year 13 a journey that has included working in infant, first, junior, middle and secondary schools as well as tertiary colleges and adult education settings. In the last four years I have worked as a Special Needs teacher at two alternative provisions. I have worked at all levels of educational management including Headship and SENDCo. I have consistently achieved excellent responses from students of all ages and pride myself on making learning fun, relevant and rewarding. I have always appreciated the importance of a positive working relationship with parents. I have been a private tutor for over thirty years and have successfully supported hundreds of children and young people develop confidence, self-efficacy and academic qualifications.
